The why behind LL- a love letter

Little Luxury began quietly during one of the most transformative seasons of my life — the early months of motherhood with my first son, Hugo.

Like many new mothers, I stepped into that chapter with equal parts joy and uncertainty. While my journey to becoming a mother was relatively straightforward (something I will never take for granted), the emotional transition into motherhood was far more complex than I had expected.

In those early weeks, even the simplest moments felt overwhelming. Tummy time, leaving the house, packing the car, navigating naps. My world had suddenly become both incredibly full and strangely fragile.

At the same time, baby products were slowly taking over every corner of our home. A playmat, a nest, a playpen, toys scattered everywhere — each one designed for a specific stage or moment, but not to complement one another. Individually they made sense, but together they created a sense of clutter and overstimulation in a space I desperately needed to feel calm, for my own sanity.

I remember sitting on the floor one morning during tummy time, surrounded by baby things, and thinking — surely there must be a better way.

I needed less.

Less noise.
Less clutter.
Less buying the next thing.

What I really needed all along was one beautiful, thoughtful piece I could trust. Something soft and supportive for my baby, but also functional and versatile enough to adapt as our days, and my baby, evolved.

During those quiet months on maternity leave with Hugo, the idea for Little Luxury began to take shape.

I started imagining what that piece could look like. A playmat crafted from natural materials, gentle on delicate skin, with enough structure to support development and enough versatility to grow with a child through multiple stages of play.

What began as a personal solution slowly grew into something more meaningful.

Over the following months — between naps, feeds, and the beautiful chaos of early motherhood — I worked on bringing Little Luxury to life. Designing, refining, testing, and refining again.

By the time my second son, Harry, arrived, Little Luxury was finally ready to be shared.

In April 2025, while once again on maternity leave, I officially launched Little Luxury — a brand born from those quiet reflections on motherhood, home, and the desire for something more intentional.

Our playmats are designed to be generational pieces- supportive, purposeful, and beautiful. A soft place for early tummy time, a safe space for play, or a ball pit when the day calls for it. A piece that evolves with your family and becomes part of the everyday moments that shape childhood.

Because in the end, Little Luxury is about nurturing your family’s transition from newborn to childhood and beyond, with understated elegance and purposeful design.

From my family to yours, with love.
Chelsea
