FAQs
About Our Materials & Safety
What makes your playmats organic?
Our playmats are crafted from Premium Organic Linen and GOTS-certified organic cotton binding. Thoughtfully selected for their softness, breathability, and durability, these materials create a natural and comfortable space for your little one to play, rest, and grow.
Are your playmats safe for newborns?
Absolutely. Each playmat is designed with delicate skin in mind and made using non-toxic, baby-safe materials. Our fabrics are OEKO-TEX® certified, meaning they have been independently tested for harmful substances and meet high standards of product safety. Suitable from newborn through to childhood and beyond.
Why choose linen over other materials?
Premium Organic Linen is naturally breathable, hypoallergenic, and exceptionally durable. It softens beautifully over time, helps regulate temperature, and is valued for its longevity and lower environmental impact compared to many conventional fibres.
Waterproofing & Fabric Technology
Do your playmats have waterproofing?
Yes. Every Little Luxury playmat includes a hidden TPU waterproof layer to help protect against spills, dribbles, and everyday life with little ones—without compromising softness or breathability.
What is TPU and is it safe for my baby?
TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) is a flexible, high-performance material used as a safer alternative to PVC. It is non-toxic, BPA-free, and free from harmful plasticisers—making it a safe and durable choice for baby products.
Design & Craftsmanship
Where are your playmats made?
Our playmats are thoughtfully designed in New Zealand and carefully handcrafted by our trusted manufacturing partners in China. Each piece is crafted by skilled makers who take pride in every stitch—ensuring quality, beauty, and longevity.
I’ve noticed slight texture variation when I first open my playmat—is this normal?Yes—this is completely normal. As each playmat is vacuum packed for shipping, you may notice natural creasing, compression, or subtle variation in the inner fill when first opened.
This will settle beautifully after an initial gentle wash, as the fibres relax and the plush inner expands to its intended form.
Occasionally, a light hand redistribution of the fill may help to evenly disperse the plush cushioning.
Are your products environmentally responsible?Yes — sustainability is at the heart of Little Luxury. We carefully select organic and recycled materials, prioritise durable construction, and partner with manufacturers who share our commitment to quality and responsible production.
Our GOTS-certified organic cotton binding supports responsible textile manufacturing, while our OEKO-TEX® certified fabrics have been independently tested for harmful substances. We also use thoughtful packaging and design products intended to be cherished for years to come.
Plush Organic Playmat — Pricing
Why are the Cocoa and Forest Plush Organic Playmats more expensive?
These are limited-edition colourways produced in smaller quantities. Reduced production scale increases manufacturing costs, resulting in a higher per-unit price. We absorb as much of this as possible, while maintaining the craftsmanship and quality that define Little Luxury.
