FAQs
About Our Materials & Safety
What materials do you use?
We carefully select materials for their quality, durability and suitability for everyday family life. Across our collection, this includes natural materials, GOTS-Certified Organic Cotton, OEKO-TEX® certified textiles and recycled materials where appropriate.
The specific materials and certifications relevant to each Little Luxury piece are detailed on its individual product page.
Are your products suitable for newborns?
Many Little Luxury pieces are designed to be enjoyed from the earliest newborn days through childhood and beyond.
As each product has been created for a different purpose, please refer to the individual product page for specific age, use and safety information.
Waterproofing & Fabric Technology
Do your playmats have waterproofing?
Yes. Little Luxury playmats include an internal TPU waterproof layer designed to help protect against spills and everyday life with little ones.
What is TPU?
TPU, or Thermoplastic Polyurethane, is a flexible and durable material used to create the internal waterproof layer within our playmats.
It sits within the construction of the playmat, helping provide everyday protection without changing the soft feel of the surface.
Design & Craftsmanship
Where are your products made?
Little Luxury is thoughtfully designed in New Zealand and carefully made by our trusted manufacturing partners in China.
We work closely with our manufacturing partners throughout the development and production process, with a focus on quality, functionality and considered craftsmanship.
I've noticed some creasing or compression when I first open my playmat. Is this normal?
Yes. Our playmats are vacuum packed for more efficient shipping, so you may notice natural creasing, compression or slight variation in the inner filling when first opened.
We recommend a gentle wash before first use to allow the fibres to relax and the filling to settle and expand. Gently redistributing the filling by hand may also help restore an even finish.
For full washing and care instructions, please visit our Care Guide.
How do you approach sustainability?
Our approach begins with creating fewer, better and more considered pieces.
We carefully select materials for quality and longevity, incorporate certified and recycled materials where appropriate, and design our pieces to remain useful beyond a single stage of family life.
We know there is always more we can do, and we're committed to continuing to make thoughtful improvements as Little Luxury grows.
You can read more about our approach on our Impact page.
